Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Sable a winged unicorns head erased with wings addorsed Or.  Attached below the shield a tripartite Gold scroll inscribed AUDAX ET VIGILANS in Black letters.

Symbolism
The winged unicorn symbolizes continued loyalty to duty and obligation and faithfulness to the service and to country.  The motto translates to Daring and Vigilant.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 20 December 1924.  It was rescinded on 10 February 1959.

Crest

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve:  On a wreath of the colors Or and Sable, the Lexington Minute Man Proper.  The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the Common in Lexington, Massachusetts.

AUDAX ET VIGILANS (Daring and Vigilant).
